If you have an iPhone or iPad, and you’re a fan of darkroom photography, consider downloading the Darkr app.
This app has various features that simulate the darkroom experience, to create rich black & white photography. The photos above are examples of my experiments with Darkr.
Darkr takes patience. You need to have a grasp of Manual Mode photography, as opposed to point and shoot. There are no fancy filters. If you miss the shot, you’ll discover that, in the darkroom.
Darkr is worth it, though. Using dodge & burn, crop and blur, you can create stunning images worthy of print.
I’m still learning how to use this app. I’m excited about where Darkr will take me, in my growing body of work.
At the end of May, my sister and I moved into our rather unusual apartment. My room is shaped like a giant kernel of corn. I’m not kidding. This is the view from my bedroom window during sunset. It inspired a mutual friend to dub my room: Barbarella’s Spaceship.
Part of my weekend commute to/from work. These are the stairs at the North & Clybourn Red Line Station in Old Town, Chicago.
This is just some of the things you’ll find hiding downstairs, at A New Leaf Event Space, at 1818 Wells Rd. Whenever I get the chance to work there, I always find the weirdest, coolest things.
He kept stepping into the shot.
And I decided not to photoshop him out.
